Back to our golden days – when
we were still wearing our school uniform with our pants located perfectly at
our chest level, for boys. The girls with their cute baju kurung and pinafore – with some girls would flip their hair
whenever the boys are passing by. The atmosphere in our school are so nostalgic
and it still came across our mind even though years have passed. In school-
especially in Asian school, we were taught to be an obedient students. In
another word, a yes-person who would agree with whatever the teachers told us
even though we agree to disagree. For so many years in school, we were living
under a so-called poor and ineffective learning doctrine which contributes in
creating a product (student) with low self-esteem, unable to make decisions and
unproductive as well. We were taught by the teachers to study so hard,
memorizing the textbooks, fight for good grades and the cycle of school system
goes on and on. Some teachers would yell and tell us that - if we don’t implement
those steps, we will fail in life. These kind of doctrine would kill our
passion and stop us from having what we really want in life.
Each and every student has
their own ability and learning styles. The system that forces all students to
stay in the same boat with the same pace is an absolute ridiculousness.
Everyone has their own goals and passion in life. Since we were young, we were
used to a horrible concept of success – which gives emphasis on wealth as the
symbolic of successful life. Due to that phenomenon, everyone now are
struggling so hard to be rich. But, little did we know how much hard work and
sacrifice it would cost us. The point is, are we willing to go through the
sweat-tears process and do whatever it takes to reach our goals in life? As we
are getting older and wiser, we realised that there are so many finer things in
life that we mislook. We forgot that life is not just about having a highly-paid
salary, big houses, partying here and there, work from dawn to dust and be
successful in others perspective. After so many years of despair and confusion,
we realised that we were living under people’s expectation and demand. We work
so hard to fulfil their needs which has nothing to do with our goals and
passion in life. So, what do we need to do?
“All of our dreams can come
true – if we have the courage to pursue them” – Walt Disney
Having faith and slowly make a
change in our life are so crucial in developing our life and hence, can be our
stepping stone in our way to pursue our dreams. Even in our religion – no
matter what belief system we have, urge us to change our fate and life to a
better level because God won’t do us a favour unless we change ourselves. The
key for a successful life is to commit, take action, have faith and let God do
His work – in whatever we do. If you want a good health, eat good foods. If you
want a pocket full of money, find ways to gain money. If you want a pocket full
of soul, get close to your religion and do good things. At the end of the day,
it just the matter of how bad do you want it.
Other than that, we have got
to do some investment in life. However, it has nothing to do with any kind of
investment in stocks, company, gold or money. The best investment we can make
in our life is to invest in ourselves. Learn new things each and every day. Eat
better food to ensure our health is in a good shape. Read thousands of books –
motivational, financial, religious, general knowledge, parenting and many more.
Invest in things that can bring some add on values in our life. Listen to positive
things because at the end of the day, you are what you eat, read and hear.
Along the way to reach our
goals, we will face a lot of challenges. There will be things that will block
us from reaching our dreams in life. People will go against us and break our
positive wall with their stupid perceptions and perspectives regarding our
goals in life. The shocking truth in life is, the people that will drag us down
are our own family and friends. So, what can we do is to have a good control of
our emotion and feelings. We can’t go any further in life if we can’t control
how we feel – which act as a catalyst in our actions. Take control of our life
and do not let others interfere our life. Be so smart and strong in making
life’s decision. We might let some people down but at the end of the day, it is
our life. The point is to just believe that one day we will get what we really
want. It just the matter of time.
“Don’t work so hard to live a
life that other people wants us to live in - but, work so hard to live a life
that we’ve always wanted.”- Writer
After all, life is a choice.
We get to choose on how we would decorate our sheet of life – it can either be
so colourful or only full of grayscale writings.
